For three years in a row, China’s Tianhe-2 is still the fastest supercomputer in the world according to Top500‘s biannual compilation of the fastest computers on Earth.

Tianhe-2 was developed by China’s National University of Defense Technology in Changsha, China. The supercomputer can perform at 33.86 petaflops (quadrillions of calculations per second) – a speed nearly twice that of the second-fasted computer, a Cray supercomputer installed at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

This is the 21st year that organizers in Germany and the United States have compiled the list. Among the list, supercomputer builders like HP (36%), IBM (33%), and Cray(10%) has the most systems that made it thru the list.
